My Project

Help us give our students the high interest books that will get them reading. With all of the distractions in the world today, we need to keep our book choices "fresh," as the kids would say. We want to make reading in book clubs "cool" and "popular" again. With the right amount of engagement, we can build lifelong readers.

Students need high interest books for a variety of reasons including: engagement, skill building, motivation, confidence, diverse perspectives, and most importantly, a love for reading!

Engaged students are more likely to read consistently and develop a positive attitude toward reading.

Middle school is a crucial period for developing reading skills. High interest books are often written with appropriate vocabulary and sentence complexity, allowing students to improve their reading comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking abilities. Middle schoolers are at an age where they are discovering their own interests and passions. Reading books related to topics they enjoy can motivate them to read more, explore new subjects, and develop a lifelong reading habit. When students read books that align with their interests and reading level, they experience a sense of accomplishment as they successfully navigate through the text. This boosts their self-esteem and confidence as readers. Point being, middle school students need engaging texts. Please help us get them for our students.
