My Students

Do you remember getting hooked on a favorite book as a child? Think of the happiness and excitement you felt holding and reading that beloved book. My students are middle schoolers in special education, and many have a lot of difficulty sharing that excitement and joy of reading a favorite book. For most of them, reading presents multiple challenges, such as below grade level reading abilities. This makes reading laborious, and not fun!

I already have all kinds of books on all kinds of reading levels (thanks Book Fairies!); I want to make this "pop-up book shop" fun as well, an event where they can choose a book that interests them and get a snack of popcorn and a Pop It, all nicely presented in a winter gift bag for them.

I only need the popcorn, pop its, and gift bags.

My Project

By offering a "Pop Up Book Shop," my students will be able to read at home and begin building or adding to their own home library to read independently, or with a friend or sibling.

My students already struggle with enjoying reading, but by them being able to choose books that interest them, it will help them grow stronger in reading.

Popcorn and Pop Its are just fun for a "Pop Up Book Shop," and help increase their interest in "shopping" for their new favorite books. Thanks for your support!
