My Project

My class is full of actors and showmen/girls who love the stage, but there are no opportunities for these students to showcase their skills in my small-town school. I wanted to give them this opportunity since they were so interested, and there was potential for greater oral fluency in reading. In my class, I read The Chronicles of Narnia to them, and their love for the story blossomed-- so much so that I turned it into a play for them. Therefore, we have begun our efforts in practicing lines, stage directions, character personalities, and backdrops, but there are no props or costumes.

Our goal for this project is to present our play to the school at the beginning of May.

It has been a few weeks of work so far (February), and the students anticipate our daily progress on the play. That just shows how special my group of kiddos is, though. They love to create, design, and express themselves! Just because they go to a small school, they will not get an opportunity like this again here. This is why I want this play to be as perfect as possible for them, to be a memory they cherish for a long time to come.
