My senior class consists of 169 seniors who are excited to transition into their lives after graduation. Over this school year, 100% of our students have been able to submit their college applications and have already begun planning their next steps. Many will go on to a four-year university or community college. About 92% of CAMS students go on to a four-year university.
These students work extremely hard to pursue higher education and reach their goals!
Over 40% of our seniors receive free or reduced lunch, take care of younger siblings, and/or work part-time to help support themselves. Despite all these obstacles, our students push themselves and excel in and out of the classroom. We have already started to receive early acceptances from universities including USC, Dartmouth, Yale, Howard, Northeastern, Stanford, and more! Our goal is to celebrate all of our student's hard work and their amazing accomplishments.
‘College Decision Day’ is completely free to the entire senior class. It is an exciting and inspiring event for us, but because of our limited budget, we rely heavily on the support from the community to host this spectacular event. We will have food, music, activities, and raffle prizes to celebrate our students. The items in this project will be included in the raffle, as well as dorm room items and other tools students may need to be successful in their college journey. Providing our students with these items will ensure they feel confident as they step onto campus next Fall.
It is highly important that the students feel that their accomplishments are recognized and their dedication to their education is meaningful. With this celebration, my seniors will feel motivated and excited to begin the next chapter of their lives!
