Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love math and they need many hands-on experiences to increase their understanding of concepts and develop problem solving abilities.

The students in my classroom are extremely bright but tend to learn atypically.

They are also very young and thus they have a great deal of energy. In order to motivate them a variety of experiences and activities must be available throughout the day. These wonderful children learn primarily through exploration using visual, hands-on materials.

My Project

There are countless skills that the students will learn from the materials requested. Academically, they will learn skills such as counting with one-to-one correspondence, time concepts, labeling/identifying numbers, rote counting and time concepts. The puzzles will increase problem solving ability, visual perceptive skills and vocabulary. Of equal importance, the materials will increase speech and language skills such as requesting, labeling, and receptive language. This, in time, will lead to conversational skills, that will help with social skills and interpersonal relationships.

Please help in inspiring my students to continue their love of learning.

At this young age, it is critically important not only for students to learn but for them to have fun while doing it. The materials will go a long way in helping to teach so many new skills. I can already picture in my head the joy that these items will bring.
