Help me give my students a book they can take home and read. The Outsiders is a favorite of many, I want them to be able to devour this book in one sitting.

My Project

The Outsiders book is a bridge for parents and students. Many parents have read this book when in middle or high school, so it is a literacy experience that families can experience together. When students have a book to bring home, they are able to "get lost" in a good read and discuss it with family members. This book is a favorite of both boys and girls. Because of this, I want to capitalize on them reading. Right now, are books are falling apart and we don't have enough for students to take home.

When reading this novel, students will be working on writing theme statements and producing an essay that supports their theme.

In addition, my PLC member and I will have an Outsiders Day where we will invite hairdressers to come and do students' hair in 1950s styles, invite vintique cars, and watch the movie.
