Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My beautiful second graders live in a diverse community in a high-poverty, high-traffic neighborhood with the school setting being their own little world. For this reason, I try to create a warm and welcoming classroom environment where they feel safe and receive regular doses of knowledge and encouragement.

As a result of recent wildfires in our region, I am reminded that an emergency can happen at any moment.

In our local area, this can mean earthquakes, lockdowns, or wildfires as we've unfortunately seen in our area. Having this emergency equipment readily available, adds reassurance that my students have an extra layer of safety and protection.

The generators can be used at any time to power up any vital equipment or devices to access important information. The flashlights and glow sticks will be set aside and given to students in case of emergency. The ice packs, masks, blankets and water will also be reserved to help students in need. Overall, this project will add peace of mind to students and support their mental health, knowing that these materials are immediately within reach. Also, students will learn the value of planning ahead.
