Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Everyone knows that basic reading skills should be accomplished by second grade. This is why exposing the world of books and reading to students at this age is so crucial. Some of my struggling students need more reading practice with introductory books to hold, and pages to turn! Technology is wonderful, but books encourage readers to look at the words, sound them out, and actually read!

My students are realizing that reading is a reward, something that they "get" to do.

What better way, than to provide a wealth of resources and books, geared around Dr. Seuss! They have just discovered The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and other titles. They cannot get enough, and we need more titles to offer variety and choice. Easy words, rhyming patterns, fun pictures...the perfect formula to engage beginning readers! These new book titles and storage bins will be a significant addition to our classroom.

Donor stars like you are so important to classrooms like ours. While some classrooms receive parental donations, this is not the case with most high poverty areas. Please know that your donation will make a huge impact, to both my current and future students.
