Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Everyone knows that basic reading skills should be accomplished by second grade. This is why exposing the world of books and reading to students at this age is so crucial. Technology and online books are wonderful and offer many benefits. However, students need to be reminded about the simple pleasure of sounding out a new word, reading and holding a book. Plus, no batteries or charging are required, and they can be enjoyed most anywhere!

These new books can be added to our classroom library for my students to read and enjoy.

Any time my students are done with their assignments, they can pick up one of these titles to read. I want my students to know that reading books is a reward, something they "get" to do. The plan for this project is to create four mini libraries in carts around the classroom for a more efficient option. The carts and bins will be used to display various books so multiple students can select, enjoy and return them when done. Then these carts can be rotated every few weeks for fresh readers to explore.
