Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our Second Graders are brave, enthusiastic, and creative thinkers. These students are in an inner-city school setting where poverty is a struggle for many of our families. My students constantly show me what perseverance and determination is day in and day out. It seems that no matter how big the obstacle is, these kids make it happen. I am extremely proud of my students and continue to be astonished as to what they can accomplish each year. These second graders enjoy technology and engineering, one of our big focuses is on science and technology within the classroom. Students are constantly challenged to think creatively and solve problems through investigation. My students work extremely hard in school and are always doing their best. However, the greatest asset my students have is not their ability to persevere but their ability to encourage and push their peers to do the same. These students strive to spread positivity and encouragement to their friends and classmates every day. As an educator I could not ask for a more outstanding group of students.

My Project

My Second Grade Class has been completely remote this year due to COVID 19 and are now returning to the classroom. Since then we have worked very hard to create a reliable routine for these kids. The Second Grade is made up of 3 classrooms. As a team our goal this year is to do our best to make this transition to in person learning as simple and stress free for these kids as possible.

Returning to in person learning for the first time this year is a huge change for our second graders.

We as a team are trying to make this transition to in person learning as smooth as possible for our students. Since some students will still be remote the use of microphones is vital for all students to hear and access what is happening in the classroom. Students are going to be at their desks with other students in the same room, so the use of Shields will provide some extra safety during mask breaks. The need for safe storage is also a huge concern in my classroom, students will be keeping their belongings at school in bins. The use of the shelves will provide a safe way to store their things. The folders will be used as storage as well as wipe off boards for each student to use during class time. Although we can’t control the circumstances at the moment, we can control how we react to them. One thing I can control is doing everything in my power to get these amazing kids the tools they need to succeed.
