My Students

My students are a bundle of vibrant and excited learners! They are from a Title 1 school located in Los Angeles County and often come from low-income or at-risk homes with limited resources. On the first day of school they are sure to come into class thrilled to see the classroom environment and supplies I have prepared for them. The world is always an expanding and new place for them. Despite their challenges, they are full of excitement and curiosity. My students are a diverse set of learners. Therefore, they bring to the classroom a rich variety of backgrounds and experiences.

What excites me most about my students is their willingness to be challenged and expand both their knowledge and experiences.

Also, their desire to live up to the standards of integrity set forth for them in the classroom and school community. It is my desire to help my students become college and career ready in the classroom, and to help them become productive citizens and engaged learners in life. We are looking forward to an exciting year!

My Project

Classroom materials are essential to run a smooth and organized classroom. However, never underestimate the power of good tools to increase student engagement in learning. Privacy boards are essential. Not only because they offer privacy during testing, but also because they offer aid to students having trouble focusing by reducing the visual distractions of the classroom or peers. Mini white boards are a must for sure.

They allow my students and I to be interactive with each other during lessons, and allow all of my students to share their thinking with me as oppose to a few.

The chair socks are simply for our peace of mind and the heavenly sound of quiet so that we can think in peace, rather than fighting the noisy, constant screeching of metal on floor tile at any given time. Lastly, name tag holders are amazing for many reasons. They help make names visible for any adult or student in the classroom, allow for easy flexible seating, offer a nice place for students to always keep their pencil, and offer easy get up and go flexibility as students take their name tags with them to groups or computer lab to access the information of website addresses and user info I write on the back for them. These are some of the essentials we are sure to use in the classroom, and with your help we can get the materials we need for a great school year of success and learning!
