Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a warm and friendly place where students learn with hands-on activities. In language arts, we do read alouds and tie in math skills with different hands-on lessons. We do many science experiments to promote the development of scientific thinking.

In my kindergarten classroom, we are busy learning in a fun, kinesthetic way.

Almost all of my students come from low-income homes and receive free lunches. I have an increased population of English as a second language (ESL) students. All of my students would benefit from additional classroom supplies to help them learn.

My Project

Guided reading is one component of the reading block during which the teacher provides support for a small flexible group of beginning readers.

The goal of guided reading is for students to use these strategies independently on their way to becoming fluent, skilled readers.

The materials that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door!

I will help the students learn letter recognition and letter sounds, fluency, sight words, and how to form a sentence. The guided reading table and chairs will allow me to see all the students to easily watch and help them as needed. Another benefit to this type of table is that I will able to position it to still monitor all the students without having to stop my guided reading group.
