The Next Olympic Gymnast

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Gymnastics!? I love Gymnastics!!!" These were the words of many students at our school when they heard we would have a gymnastics unit this year. Excited, enthusiastic, engaged, ready to work, ready to learn - these are all characteristics of our students. They are filled with amazing potential and if their energy can be pointed in the right direction they can accomplish the unimaginable.

While our students may not have the most resources available to them, as we serve a public school in a lower income area of Philadelphia, our students are in no way under-motivated.

They are a diverse group of students, from many countries and nationalities, and they have diverse interests. Many of our students have never experienced certain activities - such as gymnastics - because of these limited resources, but with your help, we can change that.

My Project

Our students love being active. And they love gymnastics. They've never had a gymnastics unit or been on a gymnastics team before but they love doing their rolls, cartwheels, and flips no matter where they are. With this project we'll be able to offer safe and fun exploration of the exciting world of gymnastics.

These materials will be the difference maker.

Once they see the new mats and balancing equipment they won't be able to contain themselves. Thank you for helping to make our students' dream of gymnastics come true. Who knows? You might see one of these Philadelphia students as the next Olympic gymnast.
