My Students

My school is located in Harlem and is a high poverty population that includes a high shelter and foster care children. Many of these children come from broken homes and need a lot of love and support from their teachers. However, I am encouraged everyday when I see them persevering despite the odds. We need your help to start the year off right.

Please help me to give them a chance to to grow and foster the creativity they all have inside them.

My Project

Writing folders and journals will help my students to capture their stories and ideas that the world needs to read about. We are currently working on our personal narratives and they love to tell their own stories. Last year, the personal narrative unit was empowering for my students and I can't wait to experience that with this group. They will use the wide ruled filler paper and pencils for their drafts which they will keep organized in their folders. Next they will copy their work into the composition books using pens and markers to illustrate their work.

I love to see my students' faces light up when they realize that they have something important to say and other people are interested in reading it.

Having enough paper and writing tools takes the stress out of providing genuine experiences with self expression and creativity.

Please help give them the tools to use these tools to express their wildest dreams, and powerful ideas.
