My Project

I was thrown into teaching elementary art just a couple weeks before school began. I don't have a teaching background, but I do have an art background, as I work on my teaching license. I love my job! However, I am finding that the biggest thing I am lacking is an organized space where I can help my students find materials easily and quickly, and we can move onto projects more efficiently instead of trying to help them find a material because I moved it in the past little while.

By getting materials prepped in shelves for the day, organizing fast finisher project ideas, and having easier ways to make things like sketchbooks with the kids, I will be able to dedicate more time to each student.

I want to make art as inclusive as I can, and that includes giving every student the option to work on what they want. The bins will enable me to get the materials set up for each grade, since I teach every grade every day of the week for a short period of time. I will also have fast finisher activities such as sketchbook prompts and how-to-draw resources available in my new shelves, as well as having any paper materials available that I will need for the day’s classes. Lastly, the paper cutter and stapler will make it easier to create sketchbooks for every student and give them the opportunity to draft and think about their work before diving into a project (and further helps me to prep materials by cutting everything for a grade at once!).

I'm ready to be the "New" New Art Teacher, where the next year is even greater than my first!
