My Students

As Dr. Seuss said, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." The students in my class want to read more and know more!

The Kindergarten students in my classroom attend a school in Southwest Virginia, in a high poverty area.

They begin the year at varying levels, with vastly different interests, and I need many different materials so I may continue to challenge all of them.

My Project

We need good books! I am asking for literature that will enrich our class throughout the day. Books like "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie...", will be used for whole group read alouds, and students adore them! The mix of books we need include independent readers and literature with higher vocabulary. These books cover interdisciplinary topics and social skills necessary for young children.

I am just beginning my career as a teacher.

Donations to my classroom will be used this year and hopefully for many, many years to come. Please help these Kindergarten students start their school lives off with a strong foundation of skills and knowledge.
