Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

We provide a group provides a safe environment in an education setting after school, for females or males who identify as female, where students can

develop a positive and healthy awareness of self.

The program is open to a diverse group of students, but many are recommended by staff and administration as an intervention to address behaviors and social deficits.

Requesting these snacks and hygiene supplies will help students build on practices and virtues that increase self-esteem, while engaging in various activities that support growth and learning that lead to success in life.

These students love to meet one day each week after school in a classroom setting, they enjoy attending groups, which helps build their confidence and self-esteem while interacting with their peers.

Healthy refreshments are provided. Hygiene products are available if students need any. These items help the students focus on success while giving of their own time after school hours.

Holistically, areas of concentration include but are not limited to:

- Coping Skills/Social Skills

- Awareness/Importance of Volunteerism and Teamwork

- Developing Leadership Skills (Individually and as a Group)

- Employment Skills: Resume Writing, Interview Skills, References, Career Planning/Post-Secondary Plans, and Classroom Projects
