My Project

Aloha, Our class is part of an alternative learning program on Hawai'i Island. This class has named themselves "Na Koa O Hamakua" which translates to "The Koa Forest of Hamakua District" and/or "Warriors of Hamakua."

Our program is an alternative approach to education where the student is removed from our traditional four-wall classroom and immersed off-campus and learning culturally from our lands.

During the week, we meet on campus then drive off to different community partnerships in our area. It would be cherry to have snacks on the road so that students are less focused on hunger and more focused on being present.
