My Students

My students and I meet through weekly zoom meetings to continue instruction. I am able to teach subjects such as language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and physical education. Teaching under these conditions has many limitations. Although, Zoom calls provides an opportunity to connect, it does not fully encompass the magic of learning.

Distance learning continues to have challenges and difficulties for my energetic first graders.

The majority of my students have access to computers and iPads, because our school allows families to check out these devices for at home learning. I am to provide instructional websites, office hours, and Zoom meetings to continue instruction. However, this is not like the classroom.

My Project

My students attend a Title I school, the poverty level is 89% and all students receive free breakfast, lunch, and after-school snack. My eager first graders consist of 10 English only students and 15 English Language Learners. My students have a love for learning. Although the distance learning model has plenty of challenges, my students continue to persevere under these difficult conditions.

This grant will allow me to purchase necessary learning resources from Teachers Pay Teachers so my students can continue learning at home.

It is a challenge to maintain engagement during this pandemic. However, these resources will give a boost to the moral among my students. In addition to sharing these resources to my parents, these resources will assist parents in continuing their child's learning.
