Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach at a Title 1 school and many of my students cannot afford books they enjoy reading. Transitional Kindergarten is the first grade students enter at a public elementary school. Some of my students do not own age appropriate books. Most own books that have been passed down to them. Mo Willems' books are popular with my students and age appropriate. They enjoy the simple pictures and the simple text.

Each student will be able to take their book home and practice reading it.

My students enjoy "reading" books and owning their own book will help the students learn how to engage in reading as they share it with a family member.
