This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are enthusiastic and ready to learn in spite of the tough neighborhood and harsh circumstances that they come from. Learning virtually has been a challenge, but now that we are back in the swing of things, they are ready to return to working on needed reading skills. I am sure that if they are given the opportunity to fill this skill deficit, they will surpass the expectations and become successful students. They are a hard-working bunch, and I am sure that they can reach their goals.

My Project

My students are in need of books to enjoy at home. They have been working hard to develop fluency and stamina in reading and they have earned the opportunity to have special take-home titles they can enjoy on their own. We will use these books to fuel the love of reading and to increase our ability to become proficient readers who can apply the reading standards on our own during reading. Students are still required to participate in state assessments this year, and we want to be prepared to excel and show what we have learned in spite of the pandemic.
