My students speak Spanish as their first language. They come from a variety of backgrounds, and they all bring their individual set of gifts to our classroom. They face diverse challenges related to their disabilities. Some of them are emerging and finding their voices, but the others are still working intensely on finding a way to communicate. Some are physically able to move independently, while others are not.
They all do their best every day on learning and having fun.
Students with special needs learn differently than their peers in general education. They need individual practice to master basic academic skills that others learn easily. Grasping, manipulating, and removing objects demands lots of practice.
Some of my students are emerging and finding their voices, but the others are still working intensely on finding a way to communicate. They will get there!
The classroom needs the basic materials to prep for six students and at least 3 different box jobs to complete each day.
My Project
Our classroom needs to set up a fully equipped Art Center. We currently have paint, brushes, paper (colored and white) and other basic materials. Our students would most definitely enjoy the whole creative experience of having different options to express themselves. This is the only option for some of our students.
By equipping our Art Center with a three-station easel and art supplies, you will give our students exposure to art they most likely have not had before.
Most importantly, you will give them a way to express their emotions and have their voices heard. Art can bring out the best in our students.
