This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As teachers, we do everything we can to provide rich, meaningful learning experiences throughout the day. We do this by designing instruction that specifically meets the needs of our diverse learners. We are continuously preparing engaging lessons with built-in “hands-on” activities that are multisensory and differentiated. Due to all of the varied levels of our students and ever-changing levels of progress and growth, we are constantly trying to brainstorm new ideas for fun, engaging learning centers, especially when it comes to math instruction. Our students need to mathematically connect with the world around them. Purposeful math centers with shapes, blocks, and a vast variety of math tools is a wonderful way to build flexible thinking, healthy brain function and can even boost emotional health.
Kindergarten math is monumental because studies show that children who have a strong mathematical foundation are more likely to excel in school!
The more they are exposed to math-oriented activities, the easier it will be for them to understand more complex math concepts later on!
