My Project

In a bustling complicated school like ours, the library prides itself as being a hub, a heart, a welcoming space for the entire community. We endeavor to be open to students as much as possible. One of the subtle but significant ways that the library has shifted to accommodate the needs of our community is a 2021 policy allowing patrons to come in to borrow materials even if we are “full.” We want to have relevant resources and flexible access. We provide meaningful access and materials for all members of our community, from the 9th grader who is looking for a science fiction novel full of action, to the 12th grader asking for a book to supplement their research, to a para looking for light summer reading, to a physics teacher looking for a pedagogical book to guide her use of differentiation in the classroom.

Many of our resources, including games, textbooks, our foreign language collection, materials for our Makerspace and Peace Corner, DVDs and over-sized books, are located in the Stacks, which happens to be an extremely dusty area.

There is also a book storage space for the English department in the upper level of the Stacks. The stacks is also the direct path to the library, so we walk through scores of times each day, in addition to the students and teachers passing through. Having a cleaner stacks area would be of tremendous value to the library team.
