My Project

My students need class sets of 'The Laramie Project' to add to our American Literature curriculum which focuses on the story of Matthew Shephard and the people who were impacted by his tragic death. This is a story that needs to be told and retold, especially to young people, to understand that all people, including those who identify as LGBTQ+, have a right to the American Dream. This unit will build empathy and will ignite the spirit of protest in my advanced high school readers. I know they will relate to Matthew and his story in a meaningful way.
