This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, I know the challenges my students face both in and out of the classroom every day. My students are dedicated agents of change who are constantly willing to be challenged. My students rise to every artistic challenge and thrive through opportunities that mend their academic grit with creativity through the performing arts.

My students are dedicated, talented young individuals who are driven by the performing arts, specifically our Disney Musicals in Schools Program.

The third through fifth grade students selected for this Disney Musicals in Schools Program have grit and have shown great growth through singing, acting, dancing, and overall character as a result of this program. We cannot wait to show you the results of this hard work and dedication through our performance of The Jungle Book this April!

My Project

This April, our school will be producing our 2nd Disney Musical - The Jungle Book! We could not be more excited and are looking to make this show a true Broadway production. For this production, students will be rehearsing from January through April and will have at least 4 shows for our school community. In this project, we are asking for character-specific costumes and musical theater resources to help tell the story of The Jungle Book!

These costumes and resources will help transform our dedicated students into their Jungle Book characters.

These resources will help our students shine like the stars that they are in our second ever Disney musical. Additionally, the requested lights and resources will help transform or auditorium to a Broadway theater. The snacks requested will also help students have a light snack before and in-between performances. Lastly, these costumes and props will be used for years on end.
