My Students

Do you remember listening to a story and falling asleep? My students never get this opportunity because their parents do not speak English and can not read. There is no on at home to read to them and they need to be exposed to the English Language through stories.

My students are mostly newly immigrated kids who are learning English.

They are only exposed to the English language at school when they are in the classroom. There is only so much time in a day for them to sit and just listen and enjoy a story. There are so many different subjects that need to be covered that they don't always get a chance to listen to a story in one sitting.

My Project

Being able to have CD player and listen to a story would be such a delight for them. Not only will the students get to listen to the English language, but they will also be enjoying a story at the same time. They will be able to follow the words in a book while someone reads the story to them. Especially if a child wants to read a book but it is too hard for them, having a cd read the story to them will make the book accessible to them. Please, help my students get CD players and books on cd so they can listen to stories.

The students will be able to enjoy listening to a story and not worrying about taking notes and answering questions when they are doing.

They will be given the opportunity to just sit and listen to an enjoy a story.
