My Project

My English Language Learners are about to embark on an exploration of The Industrial Revolution. They will be learning about urbanization and the changes to productivity which resulted from advancements in the design of steam engines and other remarkable ideas of the time.

The working models of steam engines will be used to engage students in understanding the science behind steam engines as they learn about air pressure and vacuums.

Students will try out spinning real wool with hand spindles to better appreciate how mechanized methods for spinning thread and weaving fabric resulted in greater available of much less expensive textiles. The toy train will be a prop in a station in which students learn about the many uses of the steam engine for transportation and production.

Students in my classes will master new vocabulary and social studies content as we learn about the Industrial Revolution. This will allow them to participate more fully in other classes.
