Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

This year I will be teaching 28 elementary students that come from low income families. The grade I will be teaching is 5th grade and I will teach all subjects. After 6 years teaching science lab to elementary students I will be returning to a self-contained classroom. At this time, my upcoming fifth graders will not have a well stocked library center or any literacy stations. It will be difficult to increase the joy of reading to my students without literacy stations. I wish to increase the joy of reading in my students by providing well stocked literacy stations throughout the year. Students will be able to take a tour of fairy tales from around the world by reading. They will be able to tour the lives of famous people in the literacy stations. They will be able to compare and contrast various versions of the stories. Students will have 100 days between August - May to tour various reading stations. At the end of the school year those students that read 100 days or completed all literacy station tours will be rewarded. You can help increase the joy of reading and enrich the school days of my fifth graders by assisting with the Hundred Day Tour Literacy Stations.
