Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

100% of my students are newly arrived immigrants who learn English with me.

Most of them come from Central America (El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras), some from South America and also from Mexico.

They all come here for the same reason: to pursue a better life by learning English, graduating from high school and going to college. They are all a very dedicated group of youngsters who come to the US in search of a better future.

My Project

In these difficult times where learning takes place online, I want to give my students an opportunity to own a physical copy of the book so they can further their reading skills on their own at home, do fun art projects based on the book as well as assigning group projects outside the classroom. Call me old school if you want to but In this era of technology, there is no greater feeling than being able to hold a book in your hands and put it under your pillow if you want to after a long day of being stuck to a computer screen.
