My Students

Experiencing high school can evoke every emotion: fear or joy, angst or optimism, and sometimes all of these at once! Our classroom is a great place to begin learning about the outside world and how to be the best person possible in it.

My students are immersed in a journey that will culminate in college, leadership, citizenship, and life.

I want to prepare them to be the best readers they can possibly be, the kindest friends they wish they had, and heroes that their families and friends can be proud to know. High school can be difficult, but this is our chance to start on the right path.

My Project

Students LOVE The Hate U Give. It speaks to so many experiences they face as young people. We would love to take 155 students (and chaperones) to see this movie - we'd fill the entire theater! Then, we'll discuss and write about the many issues in the text. We need your help to get there and it will be a day that students will never forget. Los Angeles had uprisings in the past -- this is one way for us to connect to our history and to learn more about what it means to build a community in the future.
