This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Einstein once said that, "The greatest scientists are artists as well." I wholeheartedly agree! Hello, I'm a veteran teacher of 28 years. I've had the pleasure of teaching at the same beautiful, Title I school in Spanish Harlem for my entire career. I know first hand that exposing children to the arts can increase their level of success in school and in life. It opens doors for them and gives them a way out, and a pathway to greatness.

Your help with this project will make my 6 and 7th grade science classes more engaging.

It will help me combine my two loves, science and art.

In my class, we create everything from watercolor paintings to light-up cards, featuring electric circuits. I also love teaching about various movements in art. Currently, we're learning about Abstract art and are studying Georges Seurat, Piet Mondrian and Jackson Pollock, just to name a few.

Buying S.T.E.A.M. supplies for 80 kiddos can become pretty expensive! That's where you come in! I've requested paint, markers, cardstock, glue, glue guns, modeling clay, sketching supplies, watercolor paper, canvas, paint brushes, electric circuit supplies, batteries, acrylic paint sticks, paint trays, headphones and paper towels. Please help my budding Einsteins and Davincis create masterpieces that rival the greats. Thanks in advance for your help!
