The WWII generation is considered the Greatest Generation. However, in the 21st century, there are not many of the Greatest Generation left. Help students to capture the wisdom and advice of the Greatest Generation before it's too late! With the camcorders, generations to come can learn from them!
Our school is in rural North Carolina and serves a very diverse population of students.
Our school serves mainly minorities, including a large group of Native Americans and a growing Hispanic population. We are a traditional high school on block scheduling where each 11th grader is required to sign up for United States History.
My Project
According to the latest statistics, we are losing thousands of World War II veterans and members of the Greatest Generation weekly. These men and women brought our country trough one of the toughest times imaginable, growing up in the Great Depression and fighting against aggression, dictatorship, and racism in World War II. The Greatest Generation has given the generations that follow them amazing amounts of freedom, the right to fight for their beliefs and so much more. Using flip cameras, students can capture on film the advice and stories of the Greatest Generation before it's too late and we lose those stories forever. Students will be able to put a face with a generation of people who changed our lives forever!
Time is running out and we as a generation cannot afford to lose the stories of the Greatest Generation!
