My Students

In my classroom, students learn that science, technology, engineering, and mathematics can be creative, exciting, and filled with purpose. Students learn STEM by addressing authentic problems in our community, city, and beyond.

The student body at my school is diverse in many regards; I have students from Mexico, China, Yemen, Bangladesh, the Dominican Republic and several other nations.

My classroom represents a broad variety of cultures, languages, learning styles and needs. Knowing this, I prioritize creating an environment that is supportive of the diversity my students bring to our school. I believe our differences strengthen us, and strive to cultivate a positive classroom community.

Project-based learning, personalized learning, and authentic learning experiences make sure that every student has an opportunity to learn however they learn best.

My Project

This project is simple as can be. We've run out of pencils and sharpies. These are supplies that we need just about every day in the classroom, so I'm asking for your help to make sure my students have what they need. The project includes two boxes of pencils, 1 container of sharpie markers, and 5 pencil sharpeners.

In the next few weeks, students will use these pencils to sketch and explain models as they work through a unit on genetics and heredity, and make posters using the sharpies to demonstrate their learning.

The sharpeners, well... they'll be used to sharpen pencils so that students can sharpen their genetics acumen!
