This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember the feeling of curling up with a good book? Or the excitement you would feel when book clubs would meet during the school day? I do! However, these two simple experiences are not as common for many of today's children. New books would help our class remain excited about reading.

We are a diverse group of students from various backgrounds.

Our classroom is a welcoming environment and include ESL students as well as students on the spectrum. Our love of books, especially selections from the newest series, is a shared enjoyment. Unfortunately, many of books are much older. Book clubs provide peer modeling and exposure to social situations, which is a goal some of our students work on daily.

My Project

We would love to add some new book selections to our library with multiple copies of each book to encourage group talk and shared reading. Meeting in our book club groups each week is an activity we look forward to! Sharing our opinions and making predictions about what we think will happen next keeps us engaged with our peers.

These new books will add fresh excitement to our library and create new book club topics.

Having more than one copy of each book will ensure that each member of the group has their own copy to use during our meetings.
