I teach 20 economically, culturally, and intellectually diverse kindergarten students in an urban school district. In my classroom, I strive to ensure that each child's needs are met, whether they are emotional, physical, or academic. Kindergarten is the foundation for a child's future academic success. I try to foster a love of learning as I teach them how to read, express themselves through writing, investigate scientific topics, and apply mathematical concepts. All my students are very unique with varying interests.
Our kindergarten class is full of 20 excited and passionate students who are eager to become lifelong learners.
My class is just one of four kindergarten classrooms in our school. As a grade level, we try to provide many events that give children an opportunity to gain experiences that they would not have had otherwise. One such event is the Fairy Tale Ball, which allows students to dress up as their favorite fairy tale characters and are announced as they walk down the red carpet. They are taught the proper etiquette for asking and receiving a dance invitation and how to behave in a formal setting. I believe that each student deserves as many opportunities as possible.
My Project
Christmas is right around the corner, and Santa is coming to visit LES. We have received the best news that Dollar General is willing to match all donations given on Thursday, October 21, 2021. Through donations made by parents and friends and matches made by Dollar General store, books will be purchased for every student at LES. Those books will be wrapped by Santa's elves and delivered by Santa before our winter break. What a wonderful gift for children - the joy of reading and inspiring imaginations.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
