Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my classroom are soon to be amazing fourth graders, who I consider to be an amazing group of learners. These children are considered high-risk children because of their socio-economic status and their ethnicity, but when I look into their eyes, I see little ones who have an infinite love for learning.

The children in my fourth grade classroom are brilliant individuals, who are eager to learn, and their most amazing quality is that they are always willing to go above and beyond for one another, which usually means offering a helping hand, a hug, or a kind word.

My school is a place, which is highly focused on academics, but also works with our students to learn to love one another, to pursue difficult tasks, to be truthful, and to reflect on all of their choices. My school is a place in which children are encouraged to take risks in a safe and nurturing environment in which they will be able to learn and thrive. My school is a place in which we believe that all children can and will learn regardless of who they are and where they come from.

My Project

Learning to play the violin has many benefits beyond just learning to read music. A violin can help "fine-tune" motor skills, and give students the opportunity to engage in more creative experiences, which most of the children that I work with don't always have due to the costs these can bring. Students will use the violins once they return to school and students will be engaging in learning how to play the instrument through lessons taught by me. As a child, I was able to learn to play the violin and this did wonders for my self- esteem, and confidence in the classroom. I would love to give the gift of music to my students, by teaching them how to play the violin. The purpose of this project is to begin my journey in bringing the joy of music to our school.

Your donations will help students learn how to play the violin during face to face sessions with me, once it is safe to do so.

Once the school year begins, if possible, we will continue our learning face to face, because the ultimate goal is to start a violin club and during this time I have been working to add more instruments to our club for lower and upper grades. This has been a tough year and I remember that music always made things better for me, please help me make things better for my students by allowing them to experience music in a whole new way. I also want to continue teaching my students that perseverance, commitment, love, and hard work can get you to learn anything you set your heart and mind to whether academic or creative. Please help me offer a well rounded education to students, once it is safe to do so.
