This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are brilliant young minds, full of curiosity, and have an infinite love of learning. My students enjoy learning the academic subjects, but they also crave creative experiences. My students have always known that they can learn anywhere and everywhere and distance learning has taught us all that we can do just that.

My students have shown hard work, persistence, love, and dedication to their work, to me and to one another throughout our distance learning and because of this, I want them to continue learning and "growing their brain," not just academically, but creatively as well.

My students and I check in with one another through video sessions and calls. I am able to check-in and see how they are doing and we also check in as a class. I want my students to know that they are loved and cared for, no matter where they are. Some of my students have expressed an interest in music and I want to be able to give them that, whether it is this year, or next year.

My Project

Learning to play the violin has many benefits beyond just learning to read music. A violin can help "fine-tune" motor skills, and give students the opportunity to engage in more creative experiences, which most of the children that I work with don't always have due to the costs these can bring. Students will use the violins at home and students will be engaging in learning how to play the instrument virtually by engaging in google hangout sessions with me. As a child, I was able to learn to play the violin and this did wonders for my self- esteem, and confidence in the classroom. I would love to give the gift of music to my students, by teaching them how to play the violin. The purpose of this project is to begin my journey in bringing the joy of music to our school.

Your donations will help students learn how to play the violin virtually as I will be doing google hangout sessions (in groups and individual sessions) with students in which I will be teaching them how to play the violin.

Once the school year begins, if possible, we will continue our learning face to face, because the ultimate goal is to start a violin club and with time add more instruments to this club. This is a tough time and I remember that music always made things better for me, please help me make things better for my students by allowing them to experience music in a whole new way. I also want to continue teaching my students that perseverance, commitment, love, and hard work can get you to learn anything you set your heart and mind to whether academic or creative. Please help me provide the best well-rounded education we can offer.
