My Students
My students are from a Title I school where more than three‑quarters of students come from low‑income households. A quarter of the school population are English Language Learners.
My families come from diverse backgrounds and live in the heart of Flatbush, Brooklyn.
My students are special because they got grit and make the most out of any situation.
My Project
I would like my students to bring home a book that they can keep at home. For winter recess, I would like to give them gifts of books. I remember when my second grade teacher gave us books as presents (each one individually wrapped with a sweet note written inside). I kept that book well into adulthood. I hope my students can also receive a beautiful gift of a book to bring home and read over and over again.
The best present a student can receive is a beautiful book they can keep.
My students love Pete the Cat books and I know they will be excited to receive them! We also would like to add some other fun books to our classroom library, as well as replenish our supply of dry erase markers.
