Help me give my students a larger carpet that everyone can gather on during whole group instruction and an easel to help facilitate our daily math routines such as number of the day and problem of the day.

My Students
I am the 2nd grade Math & Science teacher of approximately 54 elementary aged children at a small school in Houston, Texas. Of the 350 PreK 3 - 5th-grade students at our Title I campus, 100% are eligible for free breakfast and free lunch. 89% of my students have been labeled as economically disadvantaged and 10% of my students are part of the Backpack Buddy program which sends meals home with the students each weekend. Some of my students are still displaced as a result of Hurricane Harvey that hit Houston in August of 2017.
Although my students are in unfortunate circumstances, they are worth so much more than the labels that have been attached to them.
My students come through my door every day ready to grow and willing to learn. They are hopeful for their futures but need the tools to make their dreams come true.
My Project
School has begun and we are off to a great start! Each morning when my students walk in, we gather on our carpet for our character education lesson, our daily math routines, and our numerical fluency practice. Unfortunately, fitting twenty-five growing second graders on a 6 x 8 carpet is impossible and some of my students are forced to sit on the cold tile floor during our morning routines.
There will be a lot of growth this year both academically and physically so having a larger carpet where all my students can comfortably fit would be a tremendous help to our classroom environment.
The easel will create a space for us to conduct our daily math routines since we have a very limited amount of space on our whiteboard in the front of the room. Your donation can make our wish a reality!
