My Students

Maintaining engagement in this digital age is a challenge in all classrooms. 5th grade students need visuals and technology to immerse themselves in math and science lessons, curricular areas that will ensure future career success.

My students are amazing fifth graders who deserve the very best!

They are fun, energetic and creative, and I love to showcase their spectacular talents. The school where I teach is considered "high poverty" so students do not have the same opportunities as those in other neighborhoods. In particular, we have limited access to the latest technology tools that more affluent schools have in abundance. Everyone qualifies for free lunch in the Title 1 program.

My Project

I am requesting 1 projector and 1 carrying case to improve engagement in lessons and to assist all my visual learners. Exposure and access to technology is vital in today's classroom. Having a projector will help students to learn visually and understand precisely those chemical formulas or mathematics equations and diagrams that lead to academic success. Students will also use the projector to share their academic thinking with their classmates as they solve complex problems. My hope is to soon pair this projector with a classroom laptop and further immerse my students in using the tools of the future to become problem solvers. One step and one tool at a time is all we can hope for.

A projector is a staple of the modern classroom and one that we desperately need to increase math and science engagement and academic success.
