This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I teach 6th grade at a title one school that is in a high-need community. I teach in an all inclusion classroom which means that the special education teacher comes in and we co-teach so that all students are provided with the same and equal opportunity in the classroom during reading and math.
The students that I teach take an invested interest in learning when they know that it will be meaningful and used in their daily life. I can teach them anything if it is connected with technology. I teach them the state core concepts and apply those concepts to real life applications to get the students to invest in their future. When things are taught only by paper and pen I don't have the interest or buy in. Students do not see the point. If I give them the same lesson using technology I have students that are biting at the bit to dive into the project and collaborate with other students to complete a final project. Technology plays a vital role in learning when it comes to this age group. They are visual learners that need to be engaged and allowed the opportunity to use their creativity in the learning process.
I need a couple of Flip Mino Camcorders so that the students can bring the curriculum that they are learning to life. They will do research on various topics and create movies for their final projects. I want to teach my students how to use various types of technology so that they are open to more opportunities and will become lifelong learners. I am hoping that the projects that we create can be shared with other schools through podcasts and the use of WIMBA. The Flips are user friendly and easy to download for the projects that I have planned. I would be able to use the Flips in projects for all subject areas.
You will make it possible for my students to have opportunities using technology that they wouldn't necessarily have. You will be helping to create a learning environment where students are eager to learn because the final project is something that they have achieved using their own creativity and can share with others.
