Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most educators feel their classroom of students are the best and greatest. Although I can't argue with their opinions, I happen to think that I have the best and greatest students on this planet. There isn't a day that I don't look forward to seeing their faces and seeing them develop in knowledge and wisdom before my eyes. I may be their teacher, but they teach me so many lessons each day as well. Currently, I am educating a set of curious, friendly, and resilient fourth grade students that are constantly excited about learning.

My students attend a Title I school located in the South Bronx in which 30% live in shelters.

Despite the obstacles they face on a daily basis, they are always eager to learn and never give up hope. As their teacher, I buy the majority of the materials they need to help them achieve their academic goals out of my own pocket because I want to provide them with the opportunities to learn and experience things they never imagined. I want to instill the joy that learning can bring regardless of the challenges within their own lives.

My Project

The supplies listed in within this project will support my students from the very first day of school until the last the day of their fourth grade school year. The supplies listed are items that are difficult for my school to find additional money for funding. The supplies start as small as pencils and pens for writing, markers, tape, wite out for when students make publishing errors to a electric pencil sharpener and electric stapler for stapling students final writing products. My students will be using the supplies either while they are independently working and/or completing group work tasks. Students shouldn't have to worry about having the basic school supplies to do their work.

However, it is difficult to complete assignments without the proper supplies.

My students need these supplies to help support their thinking. However, we are in an extremely low-income neighborhood, and my students can barely afford to purchase their own supplies. I buy most of the supplies out of my own pocket, which I don't mind, because they appreciate it so much. Any amount of donation will truly be appreciated in my eyes as well as my students.
