Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The resources that I am presently trying to purchase will help my students expand their social emotional learning (SEL.) During groups, I also like to do “ice breakers,” which helps the students feel more at ease and participate in the group discussions. The SEL games will also help expand the students understanding of the different emotions as well as how to manage each emotion.

The goal for this project is to help students engage with other students in a friendly, understanding and empathetic manner.

This specific game is great for motivating students to take part in group discussions. The game cards cover topics such as friendship, teamwork, self-control and many more feelings that come to play on a day-to-day basis. In this game, one of the students picks a card from the mystery box for the group to talk about or in many cases the student might choose to give his/her own response motivating other students to take part in the discussion. This SEL game is a critical factor in helping the students expand their social-emotional learning as well as helping them build constructive relationships.

My students all have endearing and unique qualities. My students also know to express great admiration not only about self, but also with their classmates. Although, the majority of my students are well motivated at home. I also like to compliment them on their good behavior in school. I enjoy being kind, caring & loving with my students because it contributes to their motivation. I also give the “firm talk” whenever needed, but they’re aware that I do this because I care about their social emotional and academic growth.
