Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a music teacher working with kindergarten through 5th grade students within both the inclusion and self contained settings. I want my students to be able to have an appreciation and a respect for nature and to have that be a central part of our classroom culture. It is my wish for the children to hear the beauty and joy in the sounds of nature.

The sound of Rain is the music of nature, when it falls on the ground,

Please help us give my students the opportunity to experience the sounds of nature inside of our music classroom.

There are certain instruments that are inspired by nature and using them in music is one of the ways we show our appreciation for our planet.

Please help us get a rain stick so we can hear and feel the rain while we stay dry in our classroom. We will study how the Climate in Chile inspired this instrument and how it compares and contrasts from our Florida Climate. We would also love some croaking frog guiros that were designed in different sizes to help us identify the voices of different types of frogs, including some species that can only be found in the rainforests! We love tying our experiential memories to abstract learning and it would be so much fun to bring some biology into our music classroom.
