My Students

My first grade classroom is full of energy, excitement, enthusiasm, and eagerness! My goal on a daily basis is to bring learning to life and engage my students through innovative teaching.

The Daily Five time block is a favorite among my students!

During this time they get to move around the room engaging in activities such as Working on Writing, Working on Words, Listening to Reading, Reading to Themselves, or Reading to Someone. While they are actively engaged in these activities, I get my favorite time...Teacher Time! I love to work with a small group of students for awhile each day and cater my teaching more to their individual needs and interests!

My Project

I currently only have one iPad mini to use in the classroom during our Daily Five time. When students have completed other activities in their groups, I like for them to have the opportunity to do more! We are requesting another iPad.

With technology being such a big part of our daily lives, I think it's important to expand activities with technology as much as possible.

Students can use QR codes to listen to books read aloud or to read independently, they can visit a popular spelling site to work on spelling and sight words, or play various phonetic games to further reading skills. The possibilities are endless!
