Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Physical Education at a Title I school in Durham, NC. My students range in grade from kindergarten to 5th grade. My main goal is to provide a wide range of physical activity to my students that they wouldn't normally get a chance to experience. My students are passionate, competitive, and eager to learn new things.

My school embraces its diversity.

I want the Physical Education department to grow and reflect the many cultures represented in our school. PE is not all about who is the best at a sport or activity. PE is about providing students with the opportunity to try new things and adopt a physically active lifestyle.

My Project

The use of these mini cycles will be used on a daily basis. My students will have the pleasure of using these as a warm-up option at the beginning of each class. These will also be used as an alternative physical activity for students who may not be feeling 100% that day, or if they have another limiting factor that prevents them from running. Sometimes I have a few special needs students who get to join my PE class with the general population. These cycles will allow them the opportunity to engage in physical activity whenever they are struggling with the original activity, or if their IEP indicates other accommodations are necessary.

By donating to my project, you will be providing my students a possible once in a lifetime opportunity to use innovative equipment they normally would not get a chance to use.

This equipment will be just another reason for the students to be excited about PE class and overall physical activity.
