My Students

Our students are special, because they are eager to learn. They are always taking learning to the next level, and they are engaged in the hands on learning process.

Students, that come into our classroom, rarely have an opportunity to engage in the natural environment, that provides opportunities for life sciences.

Our students enjoy participating in activities that relate to the real world and consistently ask questions about living things. The children that attend our program are primarily from low income families and need the extra support. They live in apartments or condominiums near the school. Students that attend our program will eventually filter into the surrounding schools in our district. This opportunity will prepare them to take the next step in their education.

My Project

These materials will promote hands on learning through life science. Young children need to, not only learn from the books that are read to them, but they need to investigate, explore, and engage with new materials. Seeing eggs hatch, caterpillars grow, chrysalid form, and finally metamorphosis as butterflies hatch, is amazing in the life of a young child.

Observing living creatures, as they change and grow, is an exciting adventure for any student.

Giving opportunities for students to document the stages of life, learn new vocabulary, and understand how life changes in the world around them, prepares our littlest learners for upcoming tasks they will be required to participate in. Our students will have life experiences that they can share when they continue their education. Science is an exciting part of everyday life that children are interested in.
