My Project

Creating a break space in my digital design classroom is crucial, especially for our underserved community where students often carry heavy emotional burdens. My students are talented, but they face challenges that can sometimes overshadow their creativity and focus. Our curriculum emphasizes self-reflection—a critical tool for personal growth—but this introspection can lead to weighted realizations that are complexed to process. That’s why I’m dedicated to providing a space where they can decompress, reflect, and regain their emotional balance.

The 3-seater sofa will offer an inviting spot where students can step away from their screens and the pressures of their work.

This comfortable area allows them to take necessary brain breaks, which are proven to enhance focus and creativity. Students will be able to request moments to decompress, helping them to return to their design projects with renewed energy and a fresh perspective. Brain breaks are essential as they prevent burnout and foster a more innovative and productive mindset.

The Cork Bulletin Board will be a platform for students to share their thoughts, inspirations, and struggles, fostering a sense of community and support. This collaborative environment encourages creative exchanges, as students can see and build on each other's ideas.

The Emoji Feelings Chart and Keep Calm Posters will help students manage their emotions, reminding them to acknowledge their feelings regularly. These tools will support them in navigating their inner worlds, ensuring that emotional balance is maintained, which is crucial for creative work.

My goal is to create a classroom environment where students feel supported both academically and emotionally. This break space will be a refuge for them to pause, refocus, and tackle challenges with renewed vigor. My students are special because they bring unique perspectives and resilience, and this space will empower them to thrive creatively and personally.
