My Project

Cooking together gives students time to share, bond, and work together. Food really has the power to heal! Over the last few years due to COVID and having to keep our distance from others, the effects of COVID-19 on our students have become evident in their socialization skills, ability to talk with others as well as feeling comfortable and safe in new environments.

This club gives students a space to learn new recipes and baking/cooking techniques.

Our Club is an open environment where all members share a love for culinary and can exchange personal recipes from the diverse cultures of our students. Students will share interests with others who are also passionate about food. This club will also give students an outlet to learn how to make quick and healthy meals to learn independence in the kitchen.

In this cooking club, students will learn appropriate terminology that will help them to better read and understand recipe preparations. Being that we are located in a high school, we have little to no equipment to actually cook with. Your donations will go to funding for ingredients, equipment and aprons for uniforms so that the students can properly learn how to use kitchen equipment and have ingredients to help create recipes. I will include a lot of visual aids to differentiate education for our English language learners as well as our students with disabilities!

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, but you will also ultimately help to increase their life achievement skills and independence.
